When Kaylee Carter sees a story on the news about a lottery winner in McIntosh, Ohio, she does a double take. Sofia Donatelli gave up her daughter Constanzia twenty-five years ago, but Sofia has never given up the search for her daughter. Kaylee can't help feeling a connection to Sofia, and knowing she's never quite fit in with her own family, she can't help but wonder, is Sofia her real mother? Taking a wild chance, Kaylee moves from Florida to Ohio with her young son Joey. She doesn't know anyone in town, she doesn't have a job or a place to stay, all she has is a burning hope in her heart that she may finally have the chance to meet her true mother.

Tony Donatelli, Sofia's stepson, has been busy fending off fake-Constanzia's ever since Sofia told her story on the news. When he sees another new face in town, he's immediately wary, but it seems like the sweet Kaylee Carter doesn't have a deceitful bone in her body. She's looking for a job and a home, and Tony is more than willing to help, influenced in large part by his burning desire for her. However, when the truth of why Kaylee and Joey are in McIntosh emerges, Tony is angry while Sofia is ecstatic. She's taken an instant liking to Kaylee and Joey and despite Tony's dire warnings, she invites them to live in her house. Kaylee's heart is warmed by the kindhearted woman, but she's also a bit nervous of Tony. He makes her feel things that she's never felt with another man before, and no matter how much she tells herself that he's not right for her, that his suspicions hurt her, she can't help falling for him. But will Tony be able to put his suspicions of Kaylee aside and focus on the burgeoning relationship that is forming between them, or will he continue to seek the truth, at the expense of not only Kaylee's love, but of the affection Sofia has always showered on him?

MILLION TO ONE is the poignant tale of a woman's quest for truth. Kaylee has a lot of issues with her parents, so when she hears Sofia's story, her heart leaps with the hope that perhaps she's not the product of her strict home, but instead, is the child of this loving and kind woman. Tony's presence becomes a bonus in her life, while at the same time a hindrance to Kaylee's growing relationship with Sofia. Tony and Kaylee are both caring and considerate people who want the best for Sofia. Unfortunately, many misconceptions get in the way of their attraction. It was wonderful to see them eventually put those problems aside and work for the good of Sofia. MILLION TO ONE examines the harsh realities of money and the problems it can cause, but it also explores all the good money can do. You'll definitely be touched by this warmhearted story of Kaylee, Tony, and Sofia. MILLION TO ONE grips the heart and won't let it go until the last page is turned.
