George Haywood, Pop, was mining his property and he was sure that he had struck gold. But one night he went home and was surprised by someone whom he knew who hit him and knocked him down the basement stairs. George died and left all of his property to Arcadia, Cadie, his granddaughter. All except a small piece of land that he left to his brother, Jack. Cadie moved to the property Pop had left her and she wanted her tenant to move out. But the first day she was there Marc Bannachek, her tenant, was injured by his dog no less. She knew she couldn’t throw him out so she took him in the cabin to take care of him. Little things started to happen that made Cadie glad that Marc was there with her. First bats were put in her room, then Vi, her house keeper, was shot while in Cadie’s room cleaning. It made her think that someone wanted her dead. After her accident she was very concerned. Maybe the car accident was no accident. Someone was trying to get rid of her, but why? And where were the log books that Pop kept? They were missing. Cadie knew that Pop kept them in the mining shed but she couldn’t find them.

As Marc was healing she was growing closer to him. She kept thinking what it would be like to kiss him and have him in her bed. Cadie didn’t want Marc to leave.  She felt safer with him near her. Would she ever find out who was trying to kill her? Could she find love and happiness with Marc? Did Marc feel the same way she did?

Marc Bannachek was staying in the small cabin near Pop when Pop had his accident. Marc was an ex-cop and knew that something funny was going on when things started happening. He was afraid for Cadie and when his accident happened he was glad to be near her. Marc knew that something was going on; he just couldn’t find out what it was, But he had to keep Cadie safe. He found he was falling for her. And wanted to be with her every chance he could. Could she care for him the same way he cared for her?

Dee Lloyd has written a great love, suspense, and murder story. I was enchanted with the way that Marc and Cadie fell in love and I couldn’t put it down. MINE is a great story that you will want to read over and over again. The little accidents that happen will have you turning pages just to find out what happens next. Ms. Lloyd, thank you for a great read and I will look forward to your next book.
