Miranda Carlucci has a great job at a local casino with all the perks she could desire, but there’s for more to her than the little bundle of womanhood Jace considers her to be. She has dark needs and she’s certain Jase wouldn’t understand her desire to be paddled, whipped and commanded. He is a protector at heart, he’d never be willing to give her the sort of Dominance she craves – or so she thinks.
When Miranda returns home in the early morning one evening she’s interrogated by Jace who’s made notice of her clothing’s disarray and the bruising on her wrists. Obviously someone is abusing Miranda and it’s his duty as well as his pleasure to uncover the truth about her activities and fix the problem for her. Only when Jace follows her to a high class fetish club he discovers that she might not be as innocent and naïve as he imagined. Rather than let the Dom yielding the whip continue, Jace takes over – after reading her strategically altered MIRAND’A RIGHTS. He proceeds to give her the session of her submissive dreams and transports her to a level of subspace she’d only heard about – but much to her disappointment, instead of offering her aftercare or any sort of comfort at all for that matter leaving her emotionally bruised. That feeling doesn’t last long though… Miranda might be a submissive but she’s no doormat and confronting Jace about his callous treatment of her will either lead to the sort of relationship she desires with him or brutally end their longstanding friendship.
MIRANDA’S RIGHTS is a fun friend to lover story with a BDSM flavor that certainly singes the senses. It’s easy to imagine Jace and Miranda’s safe ‘friendship’ but it’s obvious that there’s more to it than just watching TV or sharing meals. There’s a mutual desire even before he discovers her naughty little secret. To be fair though, he hasn’t been forthcoming about his Dominant tendencies either. KyAnn Waters doesn’t skimp on the passion or angst riddled moments with this story and as a reader you’re able to emphasize with Jace as well as Miranda. It’s not easy to risk rejection and admit to your desires, but when everything finally is out in the open the results can be so very satisfying for everyone involved.
