MISSION OF CHRISTMAS had a nice premise in that Andrew came from a wonderful family, believed in togetherness with several generations surrounding them and loved Christmas. Erica on the other hand comes from a very different family life that her best friend never knew about but sheds a lot of light on why Erica hates all things Christmas. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Erica and her childhood but loved that she felt she could finally break down the walls and confide in him. They spent a lot of time together both at work and home. Watching their relationship incorporate romance while Andrew was fought every step of the way by Erica was enlightening. Seeing how he distanced himself so he could protect his heart was not what I expected. There were family, friends, Christmas and all that entails, laughter, some tears, disbelief and ultimately happiness, romance and love. Watching Erica go against everything she believed in and chance her heart was endearing but heartwrenching too. There was nice closure and an anticipated happily ever after but a few more chapters or an epilogue would have been the icing on the cake.
Gilmer is a new to me author and I look forward to reading her other slightly steamy contemporary romance novels.
