Joshua Saxon, the son of a prominent New Zealand wine maker, isn’t without duties.  As the man who runs his family’s winery, Saxon’s Folly Wines, Joshua is usually right about certain things he believes.  And he believes that Alyssa Blake is the former mistress of Roland, his now deceased brother.  What causes Joshua the most trouble, however, is the feelings he has for Alyssa, even knowing what he thinks he knows.  His passion for Alyssa burns out of control and while he yearns for something more permanent, he can’t forget exactly who Alyssa is.

Exactly who Alyssa is controls her thoughts and mannerisms.  She is not – nor has she ever been – Roland’s mistress.  Her connection to Roland is much more personal in nature.  Alyssa is actually Roland’s sister and she has come to Saxon’s Folly Wines to meet him.  Sadly,  fate plays a horrible trick when Roland dies from injuries sustained in a car accident.  Unsure of how to convince Joshua, the man she has fallen in love with, that she was not Roland’s plaything is hard.  Especially since the people involved refuse to come clean and tell the truth.

MISTAKEN MISTRESS by Tessa Radley is a look at secrets and how they affect people’s lives – especially those that are innocent.  Alyssa’s much believed status as Roland’s mistress causes more than one problem, especially with Joshua.  Joshua has feelings for Alyssa, smoldering passionate feelings, and he doesn’t like to think that she belonged to someone else first.  Alyssa loves Joshua with an almost innocent fervor.  She adores him really, and I could sense her trepidation at having to keep secrets.

MISTAKEN MISTRESS is the first installment of The Saxon Brides series by Tessa Radley.  It is sensual, secretive at times, and smoking hot in others.  And it has happily found its way onto my keeper shelf!
