Russ Evans isn't a relationship kind of guy. Between his job and raising his teen brother Sean, when would he find the time? Besides, dating the same woman for a few weeks is about all he can handle. So why can't he get beautiful Laurel Wilkins out of his system? Sure, he wants to shield her from slime like Trevor Dean but what he feels goes beyond simple protective instincts. Trouble is Russ doesn't think he's good enough for Laurel and he doesn't want to take time away from Sean to devote to a relationship. But he can't seem to stay away from her. What will happen between them when the sleazy Trevor Dean is finally caught?
I love the way Erin McCarthy handles Laurel and her deafness. Laurel is determined to be independent and not allow being deaf to be a disability. It's simply a part of who she is. While Russ can sometimes be overprotective, he tries to understand Laurel's point of view and treat her as the adult she is. He's concerned about extra issues she may face because of her deafness, but he never thinks of her as disabled. Naive, yes; handicapped, no.
MOUTH TO MOUTH definitely doesn't skimp on the heat! You can practically feel the steam rising from the pages when Russ and Laurel get together. I know I'll never think of candy the same way again. Erin McCarthy once again manages to create a hot and fun-to-read story filled with likeable, sexy characters. As always, her excellent sense of humor shines through. Definitely one for the keeper shelf!
