Bailey York is a paralegal in San Francisco who met JoAnn on the morning commute on the subway to work. JoAnn is trying to get published, so Bailey decides to admit that she is also an aspiring author. They become fast friends and read their manuscripts for opinions and helpful tips. JoAnn tells Bailey that her book is good except for the hero, Michael. He is a wimp and needs to become a hero.

Bailey decides she needs to pick a man and study him to find out what a real trustworthy hero is. When a man getting on the subway hits Bailey in the head with his umbrella handle and Bailey gets a good look at him, she decides to find out everything about him to find the characteristics for a real hero. Enlisting JoAnn's help, they follow the man to his work and find out his name is Parker Davidson and he is a well-known architect.

Bailey has had two broken engagements by her fianc├ęs so she has sworn off men and relationships. Something about Parker greatly interests Bailey and when she follows him to lunch the same day, she is caught by Parker and he demands to know why she is following him. What kind of reasoning Bailey uses and how things end up between the two of them is a story well worth reading.

I greatly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who would like to be an author, or if you are curious about how you start writing a first manuscript, then you should read MY HERO. I know I have heard from a lot of authors who say the characters just pop into their heads and won't leave them any room for other thoughts, either asleep or awake. This career is not an easy one and takes a toll on the authors who write such great books for all of us to enjoy. I commend anyone who becomes an author and makes all of our lives more interesting by putting ourselves into these books to live a life we may never have imagined without these gifted individuals. I give this book 4 Blue Ribbons on Romance Junkies' website because books like this one make my life so much more thought-provoking.
