Michael grew up resenting his father for abandoning him and his mother, choosing instead to dress in drag and be with his male lover. Now he learns that his father is dead and he has been mentioned in the will. He makes the mistake of believing the young man that he shares the inheritance with, is his father's young lover. When he learns that he is actually in fact the adopted son of his father's lover, his resentment only grows. His attraction to the man that his father raised as a son, just adds fuel to the fire.

Anthony dislikes Michael for how he treated his father while he was alive and for treating him as a source of embarrassment simply because of the way he chose to live his life. The fact that Michael is gay just makes the situation more confusing. Their inheritance stated in the will is the club, Impressions, that features female impersonators and it forces them to work together.
Emotionally stirring, D.J. Manly has created a passionate story about love and acceptance. Two strongly compelling characters share their pain and anger with the readers as they are brought together because of a tragic loss. Michael is a man that must face the consequences that result from the choices he has made. This is difficult when he must face the man that he feels replaced him in his father's life. Anthony is dealing with the violent death of a loved one. It is a difficult time to be dealing with the narrow minded views of a man he feels hurt his family.
Although in the beginning these two characters may not have liked each other, it is easy to see that they share an amazing amount of chemistry just waiting to be explored. Their heated encounters are wickedly explicit and are sure to entertain readers that enjoy an emotionally stirring story and scenes describing hot man-love. These readers will find, MY FATHER'S LOVER a definite keeper.
