THIS HEART OF MINE
Molly Somerville has had a crush on Kevin Tucker since she laid eyes on his hot athletic body. His shallow attitude kind of neutralizes his sexiness. Molly could never share her feelings about Kevin with her sister, Phoebe or her, Brother-in-law, Dan. Their protective shield around her was formed after her father died and Phoebe took her in to raise her.
Kevin Tucker is a sexy, athletic man with what seems to be a chip on his block. He is a daredevil but tries to keep his stunts limited to the off-season. This year however, he went skydiving and was caught by Dan Calebow, the team's president. They sent him off to the family vacation home to collect his thoughts. Meanwhile, Molly feels she is in a funk and decides to head to the vacation home for a weekend to clear her head. Kevin thinks she is trying to break in and he tackles her. When her crush gets the better of her, she decides to peek in on him when he is sleeping. The next thing she knows she is sliding stark-naked into his bed.
When Molly finds out she is pregnant, she is terrified of telling her sister and brother-in-law. She knows they will try to pry the father's name out of her and it won't be pretty when they get it. Kevin is livid that Molly has put him in this mess, he decides to marry her. When a tragic event happens and Molly sinks into a deep depression, Kevin forces her to go to his family's campground, where she learns that his shallowness may be just a front.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a masterful author and reels you into the story with her first words. The characters in NOBODY'S BABY BUT MINE are quirky, fun and entertaining. The fire between Jane and Cal slowly turns to passion. Jane's relationship with Cal's feisty grandmother was touching and brought out how much family means to Cal. THIS HEART OF MINE is equally endearing, I fell in love with the characters, Molly and Kevin, right away. Their relationships started with sparks of feisty fights and ignited into flames of passion. I loved the two stories so much I ran out and bought the backlist of the Chicago Stars series. Susan Elizabeth Phillips has not only earned a spot on my keeper shelf, she is now on my auto-buy list.
