I sat down to read NOBODY'S DAMSEL.  I intended to read a few chapters and go to bed because I was exhausted after working several long shifts.  Suffice it to say that I ended up reading the whole book in one sitting.  I just disappeared into the pages and forgot about the real world until the last line.  If you read the first book, SOMBODY ELSE'S FAIRYTALE,  then I can guarantee that you will want to know what happened next, and just like the first book, it bears no relation to my preconceived ideas regarding the book’s subject matter.

Chloe is now a forensic scientist.  A newlywed, married to one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, Chloe has to contend with criticisms from her husband’s fans and pictures of her scowling at paparazzi on the supermarket shelves.  Jason, her actor husband, is acting strangely and coincidentally, working with a former girlfriend who he is far from indifferent to.  The paparazzi are following her everywhere, and reporting that her constant frown is a definitive sign that there is trouble in paradise.

The case that Chloe works on is an emotive one, a child is abducted and there is a blood trail but no leads....

Once again Ms. Tippett has taken me by surprise; after reading the first book, I thought I would have this one pegged and that was not the case at all. I was pleased to see that Jason, Chloe’s husband with the perfect smile, looks, etc, has flaws.  Ms. Tippett has given us readers another amazing novel that is not light weight fluff and will keep you enthralled.  This book was by turns suspenseful, heart-wrenching and honest.  What’s not to love?  Chloe is a strong, relatable heroine, with a bright and shiny new wedding ring on her finger, trying to live her life in a fishbowl of publicity.  There are some very dark subject matters dealt with in this book such as child abduction, which is handled in a sensitive and admirable way.  The novel’s secondary characters are as richly drawn as the main characters.  This book was a joy to read and I heartily recommend it.
