Alexandra Donovan is a private investigator who has a problem getting emotionally involved with her clients and it looks like her new case won’t be an exception.  A Mrs. Braxton wants Alex to find the baby that was stolen from her forty years ago and she believes she knows where he is right now.  When Alex hears Mrs. Braxton story of losing two of her sons to accidents and one son to a kidnapping Alex very much wants to hand Mrs. Braxton a happy ending, but after working missing person cases for years Alex doesn’t hold out much hope.

Brodie Hayes has retired from the rodeo life that had treated him so well.  The life he had pursued had keep him estranged from his parents who had wanted Brodie’s life to take a different path, but a few years back Brodie had made peace with his folks and now they were a family again.  When Alex shows up at his ranch, Brodie refuses to believe that he could be the boy that had been stolen from the Braxton’s all those years ago.  Brodie consents to a DNA test just to put the matter to rest.

Alex is doing what she always does with her cases…she is getting emotionally involved.  She likes and admires Brodie and tries to be there for him while he is coming to grips with the possibility that the people that raised him are not his biological parents.  Brodie is impressed with Alex and her caring attitude, but his life is in such an uproar that he is not sure of who he is let alone what his feelings really are for Alex.  Who are Brodie’s biological parents?  Will Brodie be willing to let Alex into his life?  Pick up this excellent book and find out.

ONCE A COWBOY by Linda Warren is a story overflowing with emotional twist and turns that grabs the reader from the first page and doesn’t let go until the end.  I was completely taken over by the characters in this book I actually felt that I was in the story feeling everything Alex and Brodie were.  I loved all the characters, even the secondary ones, because each person brought something unique to the tale making the story unfold with even more power.  This is a wonderful book and one you don’t want to miss.
