One of Those Malibu Nights
Jul 1, 2008 - 8:08:15 PM
Mac Reilly is a P.I. who lives in The Malibu Colony, a posh neighborhood where only the rich and famous can afford to live. He’s happy with his three-legged dog, Pirate, and his sexy PR girlfriend, Sunny. The only thing that is preventing total bliss is the fact that Pirate cannot coexist with Sunny’s
Chihuahua, Tesoro. One night, while Mac and Pirate are on a walk, they hear a woman scream and go to investigate. Instead of helping her, she pulls out a gun and tries to shoot him. Before he can do anything, she disappears. Who is this woman and why is she so scared? As Mac uses his P.I. skills, he suddenly finds himself in the middle of a divorce involving the owner of the beach house, his wife and the mysterious woman. Will he be able to solve the mystery before it is too late?
ONE OF THOSE
MALIBU NIGHTS is a mystery that combines magnificent settings, beautiful people and adorable animals. Mac is the quintessential good guy. He’s upfront, honest and doesn’t try to use his appeal to get his way. I love everything about him and his relationship with Sunny is perfect. They seem to be each other’s better halves and really work well together. I also enjoyed how Ms. Adler was able to weave in their romance in between the mystery. There are a lot of secondary characters and smaller plotlines but each play an intricate part in the overall story. At first I thought this was part of a series because of the richness of the characters but I soon figured out that it was just a single story. Each character was fleshed out just enough that I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. However, the characters that steal the show are the animals. They are so adorable and they also have their own role to play. Overall, I believe ONE OF THOSE
MALIBU NIGHTS is a perfect read for the reader who enjoys animals, romance and a mystery all in one story.
