Jaynie Holmes thought her fiancé, Dean, got over his desire for a three-way a long time ago, but when she catches him in the act cheating on her in a ménage a trois, she is shattered. Hurting, she turns to her best friend, and to her best friend's brother, Brian Lasher. Dean really destroyed Jaynie's feelings and her worth as a female, accusing her of not being risky enough in the bedroom and of not being feminine enough for his tastes. Jaynie wants to prove him wrong. She wants one night of unforgettable pleasure and passion and she chooses Brian, a man she has trusted most of her life.

Their one night together blows Brian away. He discovers feelings he never thought possible for Jaynie, a woman he has always looked out for and considered a friend. Suddenly, the idea of no strings, of just one night is not looking so sexy. It is looking lonely. Can he prove to her that just one night will never be enough?

Friends into lovers is one of my favorite romance storylines and Shiloh Walker handles it well in ONE OF THE GUYS. Jaynie is a practical, intelligent and likable character. She breaks apart when she discovers Dean's infidelity but she does not let it knock her down permanently. She is a strong woman but also, despite Dean's claim, very in touch with her female side, when the right man is present. Brian is a bit stunned by the feelings Jaynie evokes in him but he is also very happy and feels a sense of rightness. There are complications to be worked out of course, but overall this story focuses on a lusty and sweet romance between two people who have known each other forever, but are only now starting to really discover the more intimate emotional and physical side of their relationship. ONE OF THE GUYS is simply sexy and fun!
