Beatrix Clouet, Bea to her friends, is the heiress to the boutique but has no real interest in its day-to-day operation.  Her interest lies in the man who is her stepfather.  Bea's been in love with Michael since he married her mother.  When she seizes the opportunity to take advantage, the subject of her desire is in his office.  He has no idea what she has in store for him.

The scene in Phillip's office is so visual the reader witnesses everything.  Bea is determined to have him and he's very nervous that someone will see.  After all, the door is standing wide open - anyone could come in.  In fact, someone does.  By then, Bea is under his desk quietly enjoying an adventure all her own.  Poor Phillip sits at his desk, red in the face and in pain as he tries to conduct business.  He finally pleads a headache and his guest leaves.  Bea has finished and Phillip is drained - quite literally.

Enter Bea's best friend from New York, Lela Turner, and her companion, Andrew.  They spend time together and with Phillip.  Andrew is in Paris on business for his boss, Simon Graves, and ingratiates himself into Bea's life.

It's here that the story begins its journey into suspense and will keep you holding onto your seat.  The New York boutique is in need of a manager and Lela is given a sales position until she can prove her worth as the manager.  She immerses herself in the role when she returns home.  Andrew, on the other hand, reports back to his boss, Simon, that Meilleurs Amis is ripe for the taking.

Simon befriends Lela while Phillip and Bea take their own journey into the world of erotic delights.  Bea and Phillip are seen out in public together.  Word of their liaison spreads and they suddenly find their company in trouble financially.  The loans have been called.  Lela makes her own startling discovery of personal betrayal.

Emma Holly is a must read in my book.  PERSONAL ASSETS is one of her best.  She grasps your attention at the beginning and does not let go.  Just when you think things will be okay, they turn in a different direction.  This one is definitely a keeper.  If you like your suspense tempered with erotic sex, this one is for you.
