Englisher Laura Meade had just started interior design school in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, when she met Amishman Eli Yoder at a farmers’ market.  Never particularly religious herself, Laura was quickly enamored with Eli and his way of life, and soon fell in love with him as they spent time together.

“Plain’ Eli Yoder enjoyed the time he spent with the ‘fancy’ Laura Meade, but knew there was really no way for them to be together unless one of them gave up their way of life.  It was almost unheard of for an Englisher to turn Amish, and for him to leave the Plain People meant a certain shunning.  Will Laura and Eli find a way to marry—or will they part ways forever?

Wanda Brunstetter’s series about the Amish, BRIDES OF LANCASTER COUNTY, has been re-released in an expanded version by Barbour Publishing.  In this third book of the series, which just happened to be my favorite so far, two very different worlds come together in love, but can they succeed in staying that way?  PLAIN AND FANCY is an inspirational “Amish” romance that seems quite realistic and the characters are ones you can sympathize with.  I am looking forward to reading the last book in this series, THE HOPE CHEST, which features Rebekah’s (from LOOKING FOR A MIRACLE) daughters.
