Savannah Brooks is an image consultant and her newest client is Traders football player, Cole Riley. He is a talented football star but off the field he is nothing but trouble. He gets in trouble with the media, plus he spends too much time at clubs drinking and having fun. Savannah knows he will be a difficult client but she is in for a surprise at how tricky it is to be professional around him. There is a sizzling attraction between Savannah and Cole and she does not know what to do about it.
Cole knows what he wants to do about the attraction between Savannah and himself. Unfortunately, she is determined to ignore their mutual desire, instead pushing him to get to know his teammates and attend charity events he has no desire to attend. Cole is not happy about having an image consultant and all that goes with it. He thinks the media is the problem, not him. But as these two fight their attraction, Cole starts to realize what a difference Savannah is making in his life. And he does not want it to end.
PLAYING TO WIN is the newest book in Jaci Burton’s very popular PLAY-BY-PLAY series. And let me tell you, it is another sizzling edition to the series. Cole and Savannah have sparks that leap off the page. They are not only fighting their desire for each other but their own personal baggage. Cole is closed off from emotion and relationships. It is very difficult for him to open up in an honest way for Savannah. On Savannah’s side, she led a difficult life growing up and that has stuck with her. She is determined to be successful in her career and she is afraid Cole will sidetrack her career permanently.
I really like the emotions that resonated from these two as they let down their guard around each other. Jaci Burton’s writing really shined in this story as Savannah and Cole truly got real with each other. It was romantic and utterly well done. I wholeheartedly believed in this romance.
PLAYING TO WIN keeps the tension high, the attraction sizzling and the character development far above average. Jaci Burton proves that this series is still one to spend your money on. And one of the best parts? It stands alone very easily but I guarantee you will be searching for the previous books! Clear some time in your schedule and read PLAYING TO WIN. It’s got that special something that all the best romances have!
