A knock on her office door while she’s talking to her mom makes her look up into the eyes of the one man every woman in the office would love to have, Doug Bennett. The problem? The man is gay.
Rachel sees a way to go home for the wedding and bring her fiancé with her, if Doug is willing.
Poor Rachel. She’s in for the surprise of her life. Doug isn’t gay and his one goal is to get Rachel in any way possible and prove once and for all that she’s not the Ice Princess everyone thinks she is.
The weekend is full of interesting events. Everyone in her family refers to Doug as Dan. Her brother Jake finally reveals everything to Doug and wants to know just what Doug’s intentions are toward his sister.
Miriam is every woman’s nightmare of the mother-of-the-bride. Her color scheme at the top of the list. REALITY CHECK brings back a lot of memories of what friends went through with their mothers during the planning of their weddings. You’ll love the characters in this one. Rachel’s family is the typical dysfunctional family. She describes them as looking at the Brady family through a broken window. The sister, Amanda, will grab your heart, too. This is her fourth marriage in eight years. She finally admits that all she really wants is a home with someone in it to come home to at night. Someone who’ll love her.
Elisa Adams has written a wonderful story that’s also one of the initial offerings from the new Samhain Publishing Company. If this is a sample of what’s to come, we’re in for a lot of good reads.
I highly recommend this book and it’s definitely a keeper.
