Sara Andersen lived a dull life. She worked as a library assistant and lived in a delapidated part of Crescent City, California. She never made it back home to Buell Creek, Oregon, as much as she would have liked and was very upset to hear of her grandfather's death. Learning that she had inherited his old rundown farmhouse after his funeral, Sara decided to see what repairs needed to be done before selling it and returning home. She was shocked to learn that her old boyfriend from college rented the cottage out back and was determined to ask him to leave. Upon inspection of the house, she was dismayed by its condition and somewhat reluctantly asked Brian, the tenant and a builder, to give a bid on the repairs needed.

Sara told herself as soon as the repairs were finished she was out of there for good. The house would be put up for sale and she would move on with her life. However, her plans changed as she was packing up her grandfather's desk and ran across his journal. Reading of his deep love for her and his plans for the farmhouse, Sara decided with help from her aunt Hattie to move to Buell Creek and start renovations to turn the farmhouse into a bed and breakfast. Since Brian was going to do the renovations, Sara decided to allow him to live in the cottage till they were finished. Little did Sara know the house wasn't the only thing that was going to be renovated. Her heart also was about to undergo a whole new transformation.

This book was very easy to get caught up in and I found it to be a quick read. It was fairly simple in its storyline and wasn't weighted down with a lot of details. This is a story of love that has been lost and found again and of redemption. The story pointed out the fallacy of the human condition and allows us to experience what a little faith in ourselves and in God can do. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a light love story that can be read without a long time commitment.
