Moran's RETURN TO ME, BOOK 1 in the COVINGTON COVE SERIES, did not disappoint. I was fully engrossed and emotionally invested in the storyline and liked the way the author went between the past and the present. It gave us the background we needed to really get to know the many multifaceted characters and their history and it really helped the flow of the storyline. Cole Covington and Mia Galdon had a rich history from when they were younger but she was from the wrong side of the tracks, plus considered trash, so didn't fit into the big picture of his life. Watching their chemistry never wane and pick up ten years later when she reenters his life was heartwarming at times but also tear-filled too. Tissues were definitely needed! There was sorrow, hurt, pain, injuries, death, the war in Iran, tears, happiness, laughter, romance and love. Cole's siblings were a big part of the storyline as was Mia's sister with Down Syndrome. Portrayals of the characters, their feelings and wants and needs were portrayed realistically. The descriptions of the homes, land, storms and war were vivid and made me feel that I was there. There was wonderful closure with healing and several happily ever afters in the offing. I for one can't wait for more!
Moran is a new to me author and I look forward to reading her other contemporary novels but especially more in this series. There was an excerpt from BOOK 2, ALL OF ME, which only whet my appetite for more! Her book was reminiscent to me of favorite authors, Susan Mallery, Jill Shalvis and Sherryl Wiggs amongst others, especially with such wonderful character development and the flow of the story.
