Dakota Scott finds himself stuck with a broken down trailer.  With no hope of it getting fixed anytime soon, Dakota knows he might as well get a motel room until he is able to leave.  When a woman comes up to him at the local mini mart and asks for his help, the nurturing cowboy in Dakota isn’t about to let her set out on her own – besides, she looks almost at her wits’ end.   Dakota agrees to help the unfortunate woman, but in doing so, it is as if an invisible wall is erected between them.  Dakota isn’t sure why but he is going to definitely find out.

Former child star Robyn Cooper learned at a young age that there were very few people she could trust, men especially.  From their first meeting, Robyn has been unable to figure out Dakota Scott.  He is sexy and very intense – however, he doesn’t take advantage of Robyn, and it is that restraint which confuses her.  Dakota and Robyn’s relationship doesn’t happen overnight but slowly and steadily.  Each time Dakota surprises Robyn, I fell more and more in love with him.

RIDING THE LINE, while a standalone, is also somewhat connected to prior releases:  ROPING THE WIND and WHERE HAVE ALL THE COWBOYS GONE? Kate Pearce has one wicked and intense plot with RIDING THE LINE.  Used to being taking advantage of and played with just for her money, Robyn is unsure of the man that helps her – she keeps waiting on the other shoe to fall so to speak.  I was intrigued from beginning to end and crave more of these enlightening and uber masculine cowboys.  Lovable to a fault but all male, Dakota is my idea of a hero!
