Deborah Olstrom is not the type of woman that Coridan MacAllister Delafield ever thought that he would propose marriage. The fact that he doesn’t have a choice, and that a mutual business deal would benefit both of them, leads him to ask her anyway. Cord has what Deborah wants, which is a big house for her and the foster children she takes care of. Deborah is what Cord wants, if only for the fact to rub his backstabbing, thieving father’s face in his marriage

So begins a story of a marriage based on convenience. Although I have to say that I’ve read hundreds of such stories, this one throws in a few interesting plot twists, not to mention some much-needed tension between the two characters.

Cord is a man who exists for two reasons. To make money, and then to make even more money. Not just for the money itself, of course, but to prove to his father that he’s smarter, he’s better, he’s a man.

Deborah, on the other hand, lives for her children. The children that no one else wants, or the ones that have parents who aren’t fit to take care of a pet, never mind a child.

The story progresses as you would imagine, with Cord and Deborah coming head-on to a mutual desire, to the Green Haven’s Childrens Charities breathing down Deborah’s neck. To Cord’s father trying grander and more far-fetched schemes to rid himself of his son once and for all. To rebellious children, and growing attraction. All of the typical elements are there, written in a way that still makes you enjoy the ride.

Ms. Masek is a great writer, able to capture the humor, the anger, and the sexual tension with each sentence. ROOM FOR LOVE is a book worth reading, if for no other reason than to experience her writing style first-hand.
