Sean Rush is a junkie.  He isn’t into drugs but he loves fast cars and stealing them but even he has standards.  After a difficult childhood, he won’t steal with people in the car and he will just take “most” of the cars for a joyride unless it’s for a job.  Unfortunately, his jobs usually involve bailing out his childhood friends.  When he isn’t working, Sean is finding himself in an unusual “friends with benefits” relationship with Ryker, a Havoc lieutenant, but to his best friend Noah, it’s more like a booty call.  When Sean is caught in a job trying to bail out Noah again, Ryker and Sean realize that there is more to their so-called relationship.  Is it just sex or do they have so much emotional baggage hanging around that they are doomed from the very start?

RUNNING WILD is the newest series from SE Jakes that brings quite an emotional punch.  Sean Rush is a misfit fresh out of the Army who hasn’t lost his talents for stealing cars or racing.  He is trying to live on the straight and narrow but his best friend Noah is constantly in trouble and making it difficult.  When he meets Ryker at the club, Sean is instantly in lust and can’t say no even when Ryker continually breaks into his apartment for sex.  As Ryker and Sean start to grow closer, we see pieces of Sean’s traumatic past and some of Ryker’s secrets revealed.  I didn’t know if they could make it back to each other with all of the drama surrounding them.  The emotional roller coaster is quite unexpected for a first book in a series.  I am hoping that Ms. Jakes continues to explore this world and all of these characters in the future.  I am hoping that the other Motorcycle Club members will get their own stories and maybe see if Sean’s friends will be redeemed.  Only time will tell…
