Xander Santiago has spent years enjoying his playboy lifestyle since his older brother Javier’s made it obvious he wouldn’t welcome Xander’s help in the family business he’s inherited.  Javier dedicated his life to building his company into an empire but with his wife’s murder a year ago he’s slumped into a pit of despair and only finds solace in the bottom of a bottle of alcohol.  It’s time for a serious intervention and Xander isn’t afraid of his brother’s wrath – which is a good thing because Javier’s just beyond pissed off that Xander dared to abduct him and drop him smack dab in the middle of Hicksville, otherwise known as Lafayette, Louisiana, with the hope that a change of scenery and some not so TLC from some military buddies will whip Javier into shape.

Javier might not be happy about Xander’s interference but he does know that something has got to change – he needs to find a reason for living, besides the company.  Into both their lives enters London McLane, a young woman who’s endured more than a decade of tragedy and still struggles to rebuild her life into some semblance of really living.  A natural submissive, London feels attracted to Javier and Xander, but she knows she can’t give them everything they demand.  Oh, the sex is wildly delicious but there’s a part of herself she’s holding back and no amount of persuasion on their part is going to change her mind.

Because of London’s appearance in their lives Xander and Javier end up uniting on business concerns as well and uncover a leak in their system – something that could potentially destroy the company and the project Javier’s worked so hard on.  What neither of them realize is the threat affects much more than just the company.  Someone is out to destroy the Santiago brothers and everything they love – including London.

At almost 400 pages, dare I admit that I became so absorbed in this story that I read it straight through to the end – only stopping for bathroom breaks and that pesky work thing?  Shayla Black’s OURS TO LOVE is an emotional roller-coaster of a story that draws the reader into the lives of this threesome and you become emotionally vested in their relationship.  My heart broke for each of these characters at one point or another but together they managed to heal their hurts and fears and come together in a relationship that’s almost enviable.  While I adore Xander and Javier, it’s London who really won me over with her determination to make the most out of life despite limitations due to an accident that occurred a decade ago.  OURS TO LOVE is a beautiful and emotionally driven story with plenty of angst and tough love thrown in for good measure.  This is a story that makes you smile, tear up, and then smile again – and even the secondary characters won me over.

OURS TO LOVE is the seventh book in Shayla Black’s WICKED LOVERS series, well, ninth if you include the two extras thrown in the middle there, and I can honestly say I’ll be working on picking up copies of the other titles to read and add to my ever growing collection.   While I believe you can easily read and enjoy OURS TO LOVE as a stand-alone, the secondary characters will captivate you enough that you’ll want to read their stories as well so might as well plan on reading them all.
