Zoë Chandler needs to finish her story on art collectors and knows that going up to the lake house is the perfect place to do just that.  She never expects the hunky next-door neighbor Nick, but figures if she can release a little tension with him she’ll be sitting pretty.  The last thing she expects is for her story to lead some very dangerous people right to her door and the only one strong enough to protect her is Nick.

Nick Mirovic came up to the lake house to be by himself.  The last thing he wants or needs is a nosey neighbor butting into his business and asking a lot of questions.  Then he finds out that some very serious people want to do her harm because of her book and being the man he is just can’t turn away and leave her to fend for herself.  Can Nick keep her safe while they try to figure out who’s after her?

Susan Johnson knows how to write a story that hooks her readers.  Nick is a very complex character with plenty of tormented memories of his past as a CIA agent.  Zoë is spunky, insightful and totally determined to get to the core of Nick and what is bothering him.  Of course she also has her own problems to deal with, but with Nick’s help it won’t take long to figure them out.  The love scenes are powerful and very intense with the characteristic heat that Susan Johnson is known for.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it hard to put down.  After reading this tale it is easy to see why Susan Johnson is a best-selling author.
