Abused. Lonely. Withdrawn. Cassie Robichaud cannot remember the last time she was happy. She spends her days waiting tables at Café Rose in New Orleans. She has no sense of belonging, only the tedious and bland routine that she has set for herself.  She lives in Spinster Hotel where single women reside and they only move when they get too old to walk up the stairs.

One day, after a long day of work, Cassie finds a journal. But it’s not just any journal. The contents set her blood on fire and bring color to her cheeks. It’s enticing and erotic and leads her to S.E.C.R.E.T., where nothing is impossible if you follow ten steps.

Step One: Surrender

Step Two: Courage

Step Three: Trust

Step Four: Generosity

Step Five: Fearlessness

Step Six: Confidence

Step Seven: Curiosity

Step Eight: Bravery

Step Nine: Exuberance

Step Ten: The Choice

With every step she completes, Cassie comes out of her self–induced prison. She learns things about herself that she forgot were even there and some she never envisioned. Her fantasies come alive with men she never thought would take a second look at her. Nothing is out of the question if you accept the step.

S.E.C.R.E.T. by L. Marie Adeline is delectable. We see a middle aged woman who’s been taught to believe she is nothing special find who she is with the help of people she never expected to associate with. She flourishes in the hands of S.E.C.R.E.T.

Cassie is such a strong character who’s been dealt a bad hand. She found love but it was not worthy of her. She stayed and it ruined her. With a chance to start over she learns that a woman does not need a man to be complete.

Adeline knows exactly how to rile the reader up with each twist in this steamy novel. S.E.C.R.E.T. is about finding yourself and having the confidence to be you. It’s about learning that you can make your life what you want it to be if you only try.
