Career-oriented, solitary and lonely, Helen Steward has a rigid and ambitious core. As the human resources manager at All Appliances, she is facing tough issues with sexual harassment in the workplace. The biggest problem with this issue is harassment towards her. As an attractive single woman, her male peers notice her for more reasons than her job performance. She rejects all their advances, her non-existent sex life becoming the brunt of many jokes and much gossip.
For Helen, being on top is a lonely place.
Enter sexy corporate vice president, Jack Guardetto. A man of success and confidence. A man capable of having any woman he wants. It doesn’t take long for Jack to take special notice of Helen. An immediate and mutual attraction develops and blossoms.
As Helen fights the glass ceiling above her, she also fights her unprofessional desire for Jack. She wants Jack, but can she have him and her career? She’s earned his attention, but has she earned his respect?
I truly enjoyed reading SAFE MATTERS. The conflicts left a definite impression on me about men and women in the workplace and some of the challenges some women still face within companies today. Helen fights for equality and fairness, and most importantly, respect — everything I believe in for working women everywhere.
