Sheikh Tahir Al’Ramiz hasn’t stepped foot back on Qusay soil since his abusive father banished him ten years ago.  He’s had no communication with any of his family and thrives on a fast paced life of excess and every venture he attempts is always met with success – and he’s bored with it all.  That’s when an unexpected phone call from his oldest brother Kareef changes everything.  His father’s tyrannical rule is over and Kareef is to be crowned King of Qusay and he wants his brother to be there.  Tahir decides to make the trip but disaster strikes and his helicopter goes down in the desert.

At first Tahir believes he’s died but then an orphaned goat finds him and protecting the spindly animal becomes his focus for survival.  With very little water, a whole lot of determination and his dwindling strength, Tahir struggles to an oasis where he thrusts the creature at a woman camping there and asks her to take care of it before collapsing.

Annalisa’s presence in the desert is no mistake.  She’s there to document the existence of a comet that her father named after his beloved wife Asiya.  Before her father’s death six months ago, Annalisa helped him with his medical practice.  Now she intends to fulfill her final promise to him and then travel and see the world.  She’s a bit of an anomaly amongst the people of this region and has never felt like she truly fit in because of her mixed heritage.

The last thing she expects is to see is an injured well dressed man walk out of the desert with a goat clasped in his arms.  Thanks to her medical knowledge she’s able to care for him so that he survives but he’s suffered a head injury and can’t remember anything except his own name.  All Annalisa knows is he believes he’s been beaten by his father and his name.  With a few days remaining before the camel caravan is due back to pick up Annalisa they have plenty of time to get to know each other and for her to even to begin to build dreams of a happily ever after with Tahir – only without warning his whole demeanor changes.  Annalisa is stunned and dismayed by the dramatic change in him so when he demands that she contact him if there are consequences of their lovemaking she agrees but secretly has qualms about ever contacting him again for any reason – that is, until she sees the little blue line on the pregnancy test.

SCANDAL: HIS MAJESTY’S LOVE-CHILD is a poignant romance full of heart, heat, a bit of mystery complete with a tortured hero and a heroine with the inner strength necessary to ensure things turn out the way they’re meant to be.  From cover to cover Annie West’s writing is captivating and readers will keep turning pages to find out what happens next.  I smiled, scowled, laughed out loud, and cringed right along with the characters.  I’ve had the privilege of reading and even reviewing several of Ms. West’s books and I’ve always found them to be emotional reads that I’m drawn to time and time again.  Beautifully written!

As you might have already guessed, this is one of the titles in the DARK-HEARTED DESERT MEN miniseries.  Unfortunately I missed picking up copies of the other books but am very curious about the other desert princes so on my way to order copies of the other titles in this series now.

The other titles in the DARK-HEARTED DESERT MEN miniseries are:

TAMED: THE BARBARIAN KING by Jennie Lucas – May 2010

FORBIDDEN: THE SHEIKH’S VIRGIN by Trish Morey – June 2010
