After being deserted by her mother as a teenager and forced to live with her womanizing father, Dallas Dubois did everything she could to prove herself by becoming a cheerleader and then salutatorian of her class. But no one in her family even bothered to attend her graduation. Through it all, Dallas has had a crush on high school football hero Cal, but he never showed any interest in her. Now a TV news reporter, Dallas lives a lonely life. Her refuge is her home, where she can be herself, dropping her frosty façade to let her softer side out. She is working hard to get the position of news anchor, which just became available. Between that and suddenly getting calls from her mother, the first communication between them in twenty years, Dallas figures she has enough on her plate. But then her boss puts her in charge of the Tuscaloosa children’s Christmas play when the director of the play takes ill. However, Dallas has no experience with kids and it shows as she sets about doing everything wrong in her attempts to get through the play and things go rapidly downhill.

Like his father and his brothers, Cal Hollingsworth is a football hero, but he also has a geeky side and is now a professor, having graduated with a degree in computer science. All through high school he had a crush on Dallas. But even though she is gorgeous, she seems to be very self-centered, so much so that Cal dubbed her the Ice Queen. Now he has volunteered to work behind the scenes at the children’s Christmas play and is surprised when Dallas shows up as the new director of the play. At first, he believes his previous perception of Dallas is her true persona, until he sees her lose her heart to a little girl who has just lost her mother. Finally, he sees the real Dallas and all he wants is to make her his for this Christmas and all the years to come.

Now that Dallas has a chance at true happiness, will she be able to forgive her mother, who left behind a little girl who desperately needed her mother’s love and has not bothered to contact her for twenty years? Or will her scars from the past cost her the love of a good man?

A consummate holiday story, SLEIGH BELLES combines love, forgiveness and second chances. This beautifully written tale, the third in author Beth Albright’s SASSY BELLES series, will take readers through a range of emotions, from tears to laughter and everything in between as she serves up Christmas, Southern style. This is the first of Ms. Albright’s stories that I have read, but I can assure you it will not be the last. I enjoyed watching as Dallas, with the help of a little girl, a Christmas play and the love of a good man, spreads her wings, like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon, making peace with her past and discovering the true meaning of Christmas. The children in this story add even more appeal and depth to this heartwarming tale. With this book, fans of this series will be able to delve below the surface and discover the reason for Dallas’ perpetual bad attitude. Although characters from the previous books in this series make appearances, Dallas is definitely the star of SLEIGH BELLES.

Now that I have read SLEIGH BELLES, I cannot wait to go back and read the first two books in this wonderful series; THE SASSY BELLES and WEDDING BELLES.  If you are looking for a great holiday story, look no further than author Beth Albright’s SLEIGH BELLES. Sweet, sexy and laugh-out-loud funny, this is a story you do not want to miss!
