Wes Kemball is a police lieutenant in Baxter, Georgia, and he's now investigating the second fire caused by arson.  The first happened only a week ago, and a prominent businessman, Robert Addison owned both buildings.   Robert is also the man Wes's previous girlfriend left him for.  So, everyone in town knows Wes has a grudge against Robert, but will it affect his judgment in the investigation?  The fire chief, Wes's brother realizes this, so he brings in arson investigator Cara Hughes from Atlanta.

Cara is one tough cookie.  She knows how to do her job, and she doesn't let anything get in the way of her investigations.  That is until she meets Wes Kemball.  Wes has gotten under her skin bad, and she just can't get him out of her mind.  It takes all she has to keep focused on the case and to find her suspect.

Cara knows Wes has his suspicions about Robert Addison being the guilty one, but can she trust his judgment when it comes to the man who hurt his pride?

As things heat up on the case, things are also heating up between Cara and Wes.  Neither of them wants a long-term relationship, but a one-night stand won't do either.  Both of them have made promises that must be kept, and their commitment to the force comes first.  But, that was before love came their way.  What will happen now in the midst of their dangerous investigation?

Have a glass of ice nearby, because Wendy Etherington sets the pages on fire with this hot love affair!  Wes is the hero of every woman's fantasies, and you won't be able to stop drooling over him.  Cara is an awesome heroine.  She's tough, gorgeous, passionate, and a woman determined to keep a promise she made when her parents died.  Ms. Etherington has definitely made a new fan with me.  If you haven't sampled any of her works, this is the one to start with.  You won't be disappointed.
