Andi, Rachel and Kim have seen their dreams fulfilled with their bakery, Creative Cupcakes. They even keep a diary of their business and this year they are determined that Christmas will be the best one yet. However, they each have their own concerns about the upcoming season. Andi’s husband, Jake, has received a job offer with significant opportunities and an increase in pay, but it is in another state. It would mean leaving behind her bakery and her friends. Rachel is due to marry Mike on Christmas Eve, but her joy is dimmed by the fact that her cousin Stacey, who is known for bringing bad luck wherever she goes, will be included in the wedding. Rachel is determined to make this wedding go off without a hitch, but can that be accomplished with Stacey in attendance? Kim has been dating Nathaniel, a Swede, and wants nothing more than to marry him, but she fears losing him before the holidays are over.

As the women strive to provide for homeless children and those in foster care, a Grinch strikes, stealing all the gifts before they can be delivered. In addition, a very wealthy man makes the women an offer on their shop for an exorbitant amount of money. It is enough to set each of them up financially. Is this the answer to their problems, or will losing their dream cost them in the end? Can they catch the Grinch in time to bring joy to those who need it the most?

A sweet holiday novella, SPOONFUL OF CHRISTMAS, the fourth story in author Darlene Panzera’s THE CUPCAKE DIARIES series, is a fun contemporary romance that is sure to lift your spirits. The addition of a little boy named Max, who resides in an abusive foster home, adds a poignant element to this story. His interaction with Andi’s daughter Mia is sure to touch hearts. I enjoyed watching as each of these women and the men they love dealt with their individual problems as the holiday season approached. The mystery of the Grinch will keep you guessing as he strikes time and again.

Filled with humor, mystery, Christmas, friendship, cupcakes, wedding and love, this story is a delight for the holidays and all year long. It is not necessary to read the other stories in this series to enjoy this one, although reading them will give you further insight into the women at Creative Cupcakes and those they love. I hated to see this story end, but it has whet my appetite for the next installment of this delightful series, SPRINKLED WITH KISSES, which is due out in March 2014. This is a wonderful story to read while curled up by the fire on a cold wintry day! It is sure to get you in the holiday mood!
