With a disappearing boyfriend, a dead body and a MIA "monthly friend", Maddy is having the week from hell. Yet, Ms. Halliday's style of writing manages to make these situations seem tame when compared with: the mother who wants strippers at her own bachelorette party, the prospective stepfather who could be gay and a sexy mystery man who has a penchant for wearing tight t-shirts.
The book is written in the first person; which is not usually my favorite read. However, Ms. Halliday's use of comic situations and her keen female intuition make this story a classic tale that begs to be read over and over. Her perceptiveness is brilliant and there must be at least one situation in the book that every woman can relate to.
So, if you're looking for a romantic caper with a difference this summer, SPYING IN HIGH HEELS is for you. It's a fresh and witty little number that will appeal if you like sparkling, good stories with a splash of mystery. Full marks go to Ms. Halliday on what promises to be a very successful debut to a fabulous career.
