In STAKE YOUR CLAIM, Eden Delgado has a problem - he has just walked intotown.  Since her father died in a mining accident when she was eight and the mine was shut down, Eden has resisted the reopening of Prosperity’s only mine and only source of income.  The small town has found itself in economic hardship and with Jonathan (Jake) Alexander Kipling arriving in the town, the inhabitants of Prosperity, along with Eden’s inflexible determination to keep the mine shut, find their twenty-year old status quo shattered.

Jake Kipling is a man haunted by a secret.  He has decided to reopen the mines and at first, faces the reluctance of the citizens of the town of Prosperity and Eden’s refusal to support the reopening of the mine.  Resistance begins to falter when Jake tells the community during a town council meeting, that there is plenty of copper to be mined and that this will provide jobs for the whole community.  The citizens, thrilled with a chance to make Prosperity a thriving town, soon stop opposing his intent.  Eden is a harder nut to crack.

Ms. Watters captivates her audience by creating real characters and a suspense-filled story.  Eden and Jake are in conflict through much of STAKE YOUR CLAIM even though they are falling in love with each other.  Thank you, Ms. Watters, for a great read!
