STOLEN KISSES is the author's first contemporary romance but it reminded me more of a romantic suspense with a mystery to be solved, lots of clues and a whodunit.

Donovan's STOLEN KISSES left me conflicted.  There were parts I loved - Locke and Josie sparring with each other, being romantic and falling in love.  Other parts I would have preferred they not be as front and center in the story - Josie's grandmother, Caroline, and her escapades, untruths and deceptions.  I loved her matchmaking though.  She was a typical meddling grandmother but Josie loved her anyway and Locke grew to love her too.  It was hard to fathom him being FBI and acting the way he did when trying to solve a crime.  There was a lot of slapstick throughout but most of it wasn't warranted. There was family, friends, a beachfront hotel out in the middle of nowhere, crimes to solve and brainstorm about, careers, romance and love.  There was some closure but not enough both on the romance front and the solving of the crimes.  A few chapters more or an epilogue might have shed some light on how the FBI, not just Locke, resolved the case of the homicide and the stolen gems.  The crime was somewhat easy to solve and I guessed most of the resolution except for who actually killed the hotel owner.

Kate is a new to me author.  She writes books that cover several different genres and I would give another contemporary or an historical a try hoping for better closure.
