Brady, Heaven's new neighbor, is not stupid either, but has his own issues and obsessions. He and a friend started a business with money Brady inherited, but they are still trying to sign a first band to their record label. Brady is a man who is looking for big ideas that will make him rich and his latest is cinnamon-flavored milk, Cinnamilk. If he could just get someone in a position of power to listen to him, he would be set for life.
STUPID AND CONTAGIOUS is a great variation on the classic boy meets girl story. The author's device of having each chapter told in a rotating first person point of view is what makes the book work. The reader gets both Heaven's and Brady's sides of the story with laugh out loud results. The novel is realistic in its portrayal of male-female relationships. The author's television writing and "dabbling" in the music business give the dialog an authentic ring.
STUPID AND CONTAGIOUS will entertain you, but also may make you look at the possibilities around you in a whole new light. I will be looking forward to Ms. Crane's next book, FORGET ABOUT IT, due out Fall 2007, which has already been optioned for a major motion picture.
