Leah Jones is a high school senior but she has a different hobby than most teens her age. She is not passionate about cheerleading, swimming, or even the arts. Leah loves to fly and has been doing so since she was fourteen. But when her flight instructor suddenly dies, Leah sees her dream crashing and burning. But instead of being forced to forget her dreams, she is given a new opportunity. It is a bit scandalous because it involves some minor blackmail from a very cute boy, the hell-raising Grayson Hall, but if it will get her back in the sky, Leah will give it a try. At least for now. Leah is no one’s puppet and she will make sure Grayson knows that.

Jennifer Echols is definitely a knock-out force in the world of contemporary young adult romance and her talents show in SUCH A RUSH. Leah and Grayson have a tense, exciting and heart wrenching courtship that is definitely not what either expected in their lives. Unfortunately, sometimes Grayson’s antics were a bit heavy handed and I had to really consider if he was starting to like her because his opinion of Leah at the beginning of the book is not good at all. I had to reconcile that Grayson with the Grayson who was coming to care for Leah. SUCH A RUSH may be a young adult book but the romance is very well-written and will appeal to any romance reader, no matter what age. Jennifer Echols has a way with words and it shows because SUCH A RUSH soars. One of the best things about this book is the setting because she truly brings to life the setting of a small town airport, a banner flying business and the rush of joy that Leah experiences being in the air. That passion and grit give Leah the edge and make this book a satisfying reading experience.
