Parker’s ‘acting’ gig isn’t going very well.  It’s only a thirty second spot where he’s supposed to sit on Santa’s lap while enjoying a giant candy cane.  Sounds simple, right?  Well, after seven hours he still hasn’t provided the shot the director wants.  Hmmm, could it be that he hates candy canes or maybe it’s the perv-wanna-be Santa’s lecherous behavior that’s throwing the whole thing off.  In any case, Parker needs to figure out the problem and work it out fast because his husband, Jeremy, has had to take a cut in pay and they need the money Parker would earn from this gig – if he can ever get the shot right.

After seven hours the director finally calls a cut and sends everyone home with instructions to get some rest and return at 10a.m. tomorrow.  At this rate the commercial’s never going to be done and Parker won’t ever be paid.  While he settles into a state of depression he realizes that it’s his night to cook – and he’s late - yet another reason to feel like a failure.  He arrives home with Chinese takeout in hand but Jeremy’s already in the kitchen preparing a meal.

Jeremy’s easily able to recognize Parker’s exhaustion, irritation and downright moodiness and he believes he has a way to cure what ails Parker.  Dinner can wait.  What Parker needs is a recharge and Jeremy has a new bedroom technique that could change Jeremy’s way of thinking and save both his career and marriage.

Bryl R. Tyne’s JUST WINK is the fifth book in Changeling Press’s SUGARPLUM collection.  Parker’s disgust with his acting gig and himself in general is evident right from the beginning of the story but Jeremy’s gentle understanding and then ummm, seductive techniques definitely renew his whole way of thinking.  Of course, even a night of loving with his husband isn’t going to make evading the commercial shoot any less abhorrent, but when he lets his mind drift he delivers exactly what the director demands…’Desire. Ecstasy. Satisfaction. In that order!’

With the current state of the economy it’s easy to understand the frustration Parker feels at not being able to pull his own weight in his marriage.  Money is tight and he feels like he’s failing at even the simplest of things.  This sort of situation is all too common and Christmastime only seems to make it more upsetting.  Fortunately a loving spouse can always help put what’s truly important back in perspective.
