Laura Stanck leads a fairly ordinary life. She is an up and coming erotica writer and mother to a five-year-old. At her progeny's insistence, Laura enters the Carnivale Win a Pirate Cruise and wins! Now she, her daughter Feylene and best friend Lala, are off on a cruise that will forever change their lives.

I found SUMMER PIRATE to be an extremely entertaining short story. I enjoyed Ms. Monaire's writing style and the heroine's outlook on life. Laura's musings on her thirty-three year old body were especially amusing. Laura's pirate was very charming and made me hope for a successful ending to their budding romance.

I appreciated Ms. Monaire's mention of Laura and Lala's relationship. They seemed to be true blue friends and I always love to read about strong female relationships in fiction. I hope Lala will make an appearance in upcoming stories from Ms. Monaire.

This was my first experience with Rian Monaire's writing but it won't be my last. I was thoroughly impressed with Ms. Monaire's ability to write characters that I cared about so quickly. I fell in love with all these characters immediately and desperately hoped for a happily-ever-after conclusion to their story. I will be looking for more books from the uniquely talented Rian Monaire.
