Rosa Capoletti is the owner of Celestes-by-the-Sea, a fine Italian restaurant that has been voted best place to propose.  Rosa has watched many marriage proposals take place in her restaurant, and she wonders if it will ever happen to her.  She's loved only one man, Alexander Montgomery, and he left one summer and never came back.  But, one night Alex shows up at Rosa's restaurant, and she's completely shocked to see him.

Alex spent his childhood summers in the seaside town of Winslow.  Rosa's father took care of the gardens, and one fateful day Alex and Rosa met.  From that summer on they were best friends, and one summer years later they became more.  As both were getting ready for college, Rosa's father was in a terrible hit-and-run accident.  Her dreams of going to college were destroyed, and after that, Rosa didn't hear from Alex for a long time.  She felt a deep hurt at Alex's desertion in her desperate time of need.

Alex is all grown up, and he has come back to Winslow to take care of his summer home and to see Rosa and try for a second chance at love.  But, will Rosa be able to look past the hurt and betrayal of the past?
