Helen is at the place where latest fire was set. She’s standing next to one heck of a hunky firefighter. She’s so taken with him that she can’t concentrate on what he’s telling her.
A sudden explosion sends them to the floor with him covering her body. Both are a little shaken as they leave the building. When their hands touch she feels a wedding ring on his finger.
Helen returns to her office and studies the map. She tries to make sense of the locations and their relationships to one another but comes up with nothing. The thoughts of the firefighter keep coming back to her. Thoughts of the two of them creating their own fires keep her mind cluttered with erotic visions.
Mark attempts to get rid of his visions of Helen by spending time in the weight room at the firehouse.
Nicole Gestalt’s SUMMER OF FIRE is a short story filled with tension and heat. Her characters are hot enough to burn up everything they touch without the arsonist.
