Florist shop owner Drew Sydney came to Sweetland, Maryland, with her mother after being traumatized by her ex-boyfriend and now she finds it hard to trust men. However, she doesn’t seem to experience this same mistrust as much with Parker. She has secretly had a crush on him, but never expected him to return home to Sweetland. Then, under one summer’s moon, they run into each other, share a few drinks and drunkenly end up in bed together. Not long afterwards, Drew discovers she is pregnant with Parker’s child.

While on suspension after a cop is killed under mysterious circumstances, Baltimore Homicide Detective Parker Cantrell is called home to Sweetland for his grandmother’s funeral. He and his siblings own a B&B, left to them by their grandmother. In addition, she left each of them a puppy. But Parker’s puppy keeps disappearing and each time Parker finds him at Drew’s place.

At first, neither Parker nor Drew want a commitment and do whatever they can to avoid it. But they both want to help take care of the baby. As they spend time in each other’s company, the sparks fly and intimacy ensues. When danger follows Parker to Sweetland, he fears that Drew will be targeted in order to get to him. He will do anything to keep Drew and his unborn child safe. Can he protect them, or will he be the cause of losing the ones he loves?

A suspenseful tale, SUMMER’S MOON, the third book in author Lacey Baker’s SWEETLAND series, is a warm, gripping contemporary romance that will keep you guessing. Not only are Parker and Drew dealing with the villains from his case in Baltimore, but soon Drew’s past makes an appearance in Sweetland. Parker and Drew make a wonderful couple and his large Cantrell family will steal your heart as they treat a vulnerable Drew as one of their own. It will take the two of them working together to overcome the danger on their doorstep.

The small town dynamics with their gossips and snobs is terrific. But the most appealing part, for me, is the loving bond between the Cantrell siblings and Drew’s sweet, protective feelings for Drew. Lacey Baker is new to me, but I am definitely adding her to my list of ‘must read’ authors. Take my advice; pick up a copy of this absolutely delightful story and see for yourself. I recommend it! If you enjoy this story, you may also want to read the first two books in this series, HOMECOMING and JUST LIKE HEAVEN.
