Julie and Will are in Monterey for her friend Elsie's wedding. Elsie is Jason's sister, so it is very bittersweet to be around his family. Julie is out jogging on the beach when she notices a surfer coming in off a wave. There is something about this gorgeous hunk of man that immediately attracts Julie's attention. When they meet on the beach they quickly start a conversation just like they were old friends.
Julie is not interested in a relationship since she lost her fiancé but having a little tryst while she is in town sounds okay. When she gets ready to leave to go back to Dallas, she invites Neal to visit sometime. When Neal takes her up on her invitation, Julie is not sure how she feels about it. Julie is not sure she wants to bring her son into the equation as yet so she keeps him a secret from Neal. Unbeknownst to Julie, Neal is keeping a secret from her as well. When everything comes out it changes their relationship and makes Julie decide differently about her life without Neal.
This story of love, loss and the everyday decisions of life make for a very compelling tale. I enjoyed this novel and recommend it to anyone who likes reading books set in present day life with the war in Afghanistan and the lives lost. I give this book 4 Blue Ribbons on Romance Junkies' website.
