Haley is still in the protective mode from her ugly divorce. She is not only looking out for herself, but also her daughter. She finds herself slowing falling for Pierce and her Beth seems to be getting along with him as well. Pierce and Haley start going out for coffee, because she isn’t ready for a “date.” Pierce becomes somewhat of a father figure for Beth, in the meantime. After Pierce and Haley have been seeing each other for a while, Vernon tries to come back into the picture. He wants to put everything back together like it used to be at one time. Haley knows that she is no way going to take Vernon back, but then she starts to question if she ready for a relationship. Also, she doesn’t know if Beth is prepared for another father figure to be in her life. Will the feelings and love that she has for Pierce be strong enough to keep them together? Or will she put her daughter first and drop Pierce?
While I was reading SWEET SURRENDER I found myself becoming jealous of Haley. While I was reading this book, I always found myself in a happier place. It was like this book was taking me to another world. I laughed and even cried a tear for this wonderful story. It’s like I couldn’t wait until I was able to read this book. This was an amazing read and I put Michelle Monkou on my “must-read” list. I will definitely be looking out for more of her books in the future.
