Thirty-six-year-old single mom Amy Johnson had always dreamed of playing flute in the symphony, but when she became pregnant, she put her aspirations on hold and began teaching music to young children instead.  Amy hears that a flutist position has now become available in the Minneapolis Symphony and decides to try out for it.  She gets the cherished position but soon learns the symphony is in danger of closing due to mysterious things that keep happening.  Will Amy’s dream once again be lost before it is even barely realized?  Will her blossoming romance with the concert maestro, Peter Wilson, end before it really gets started if the symphony ends up closing down?  Can Amy’s amateur sleuthing abilities help solve this mystery?

Fifteen-year-old Clara doesn’t want to disappoint her mom, but she really doesn’t share the same passion for music Amy has.  Instead, she would like to become a cheerleader, which is something her mom dreads seeing her daughter become involved in.  Another of Clara’s sudden interests is church, which Amy hasn’t much use for either.  And if that wasn’t enough to deal with, Clara’s unending determination to garner information from Amy about her father is really beginning to grate on Amy’s nerves!  What secret is Amy hiding from Clara, and will she finally be forced to come to terms with it?

Sharon Hinck has written another story that is sure to capture your attention and hold it until the end.  SYMPHONY OF SECRETS is an inspirational novel that will put a song in your heart as you read of Amy’s love of music and for her daughter.  I laughed at her antics as she tried to solve mysteries as an armchair detective who really didn’t know what she was doing.  Music lovers will definitely enjoy reading of Amy’s struggle to support her daughter by teaching lessons to little children while dreaming of playing with the symphony.  Her eventual success in realizing her dream will be music to readers’ ears but then hits a sour note when the symphony is sabotaged.  Amy’s imagination works overtime as she puzzles over who is behind the troubles hitting the symphony members, but you’ll have to read the book to find out if she finally figures it out.  Mystery, romance, and humor blend together in perfect harmony in SYMPHONY OF SECRETS, and I hope you too will want to experience its sweet music.
