Danni spends one uninhibited night in his arms succumbing to his masterful expectations – all while assuming this is all they’ll ever have. They’ll return to their separate lives and be cordial whenever their paths cross in the future. His ominous statement “There’s no need to rush. You won’t get away from me now. I’ll have you where I want, when I want” is still resonating in her head weeks later when she learns that Painted Ladies has been bought out – and Adam is her new boss. Forget sexual harassment or company policy, job security is upmost in Danni’s mind now – it’s quite possible she’ll lose her job in the changeover. What she doesn’t know is Adam is doing everything possible to ensure that doesn’t happen, at the same time resisting her powerful allure and admission of her naughty fantasies is pulling him further and further under her spell.
Adam understands that cutting costs is important to Painted Ladies bottom line but the new company owner, Roger Boyce, seems to think cutting everything that made the company successful in the first place is the way to go – that includes Danni’s job. Of course the smarmy man fully intends to exploit her talents to start the new line first and then issue her walking papers. Roger doesn’t see what Adam sees; that Danni’s sensuality and erotic fantasies enhance the Painted Ladies clothing line – they certainly add a zing to Adam’s libido. Danni shares her fantasies of being ADORED by more than one man with Adam – and he in turn embellishes them until neither of them is able to resist the passion broiling between them.
Unfortunately the corporate world and its cut throat politics and policies rears its ugly head and threaten the happiness Adam and Danni have found together, leaving her to question if it was all just some sick game to him – or was she ever genuinely ADORED?
Tina Donahue’s ADORED is a sexy read that makes fantasy and sex fun despite the overshadowing cut throat corporate backstabbing that occurs in this story. I genuinely like Adam even though I felt he should have been honest with Danni about her precarious employment position, at the same time I understood his mindset in keeping that fact to himself. Danni’s wild imagination and willingness to trust Adam with her fantasies gives great insight into her personality. She’s a businesswoman but dreams of having a man or men adore her – all their attention focused solely on her – even if it’s only for a sexual encounter. Ms. Donahue mixes fantasies with a corporate takeover in a storyline that captures your attention and holds you captive until you know every last juicy detail.
