Florida Jones has not always had a happy life. Her mother abandoned her and her brother Dak when they were young. Florida had an affair with a married man who did not marry her, even after she had a beautiful baby daughter. That baby has become a lovely young girl and Florida is engaged to Daniel, a man who is both loving and rich. Florida has done alright for herself in a growing business. Just when she thinks she has left her dysfunctional past behind her, Florida's long lost mother, Tamara, literally shows up on her doorstep. Tamara says she wants to make amends for the sins of the past, but Florida is not ready for a teary reunion. Her cynical nature says there is probably a financial element in this sudden quest for redemption from dear old Mom.

All the stress and built up anger contributes to Florida having an accident that leaves her in need of help to cope with day to day life. As she tries to heal, she gets support from the unlikely sources of her mother and Stan, the father of her daughter, Missouri. Florida is having a hard enough time dealing with her current situation and wonders if she can let go of the hurts and disappointments of her past.

The main characters are engaging and empathetic in their struggles to cope with the results of their choices. The dialog and family dynamics are authentic and are bound to resonate with many readers. There is romance woven into the plot, but the true emphasis seems to be on the love of friends and family.

This is the fifth book in a series set in the Missouri Ozarks. The sense of place is strong throughout all five novels. Many characters from the earlier books play a pivotal role in TAKE ME HOME, so the reader will want to start with at the beginning with SING ME HOME. I have had the pleasure of reading all of the heartwarming novels in this series and reviewed several. Ms. Corgiat has become one of my "must read" authors. I will look forward on her next book with great anticipation.
