TAKE MY BREATH AWAY (CABIN FEVER NOVEL, #1) was a fun read even with the darkness involving Ryan's past which was slowly revealed to us mainly through listening to the conversations he had in his head.  Watching him become whole once again from the love he received from family and friends was heartwarming especially when he realized that the healing process had finally begun and he could face March better than he ever had before.

Ridgway's TAKE MY BREATH AWAY is the start of a series that is set in California far from the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles although a playground for those with money.  The many characters each had many layers to them that were slowly peeled back for us to really get to know them - flaws, quirks and all.  Mason was pretty astute for a kid and everyone loved him - even when Ryan didn't want him getting under his defenses and tried to keep him at arm's length. The descriptions of the cabins owned by Poppy and her family as well as Ryan's house at Blue Arrow Lake were vivid as was the descriptions of the lands surrounding both. I wouldn't mind being at either.  There were family, friends, paparazzi, good vibes and bad, laughter, sadness, hope, despair, sorrow, happiness, romance and love that kept my emotions involved throughout.  There were steamy scenes between Ryan and Poppy even when they felt their feelings had no place in their lives.  There was a happily ever after and some closure but the icing on the cake (pun intended) is knowing we'll be back to visit with them in future books even if I do have a wait to do so.

Ridgway is a new to me author and I can't wait to read her other books in this series but also her other books that I've somehow missed along the way.  She is definitely being added to my ever growing TBR pile and hope that her other books live up to my expectations!
