Elizabeth Hayley's THE BEST MEDICINE has bad girl Lauren getting innocently into trouble and then doesn't place the blame where part of it should lie. She suffers the consequences but is it really a hardship? Her mother comes up with the idea that she pay for the damages she caused by working in the doctor's office with her. Scott, the doctor and her mother's boss, agrees but doesn't know what he's in for. Their banter, flirtations and attraction seems to go unnoticed by anyone but the two of them. They get more involved than they planned to especially since Scott has the no relationship rule. Watching their playfulness was interesting, but their loving could get them into serious trouble by engaging their hearts and by being careless of where their passion takes them. Lauren's insight into Scott's thoughts and feelings catches him by surprise more than once but he also got her on another level as well.
There were family and friends, secrets, heartache, anger, lunches, studying, fights, harsh words, tears, happiness and a happily ever after in the offing. Some of the loose ends were tied up, but not all. But that could be because there are more books in the series. The titles of the chapters were an interesting touch that I enjoyed.
Elizabeth Hayley is a new to me author and I found it interesting that it's actually two friends - Elizabeth and Hayley - that are the authors. I look forward to reading the rest of the series and reuniting with Lauren and her friends, Quinn, Cass and Simone along with Scott and his friends Alex and Xavier in JUST SAY YES, book two in the series. THE WEDDING AGREEMENT, book three is due out in the spring. I believe there will also be a fourth book in the series.
