After undergoing a divorce, Nicole Lord finds that she is not as upset as she believes she should be. Does this mean she didn't love her husband? An emotion-packed tale, THE FRIENDS WE KEEP, the second novel in #1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery's MISCHIEF BAY series, is an unforgettable contemporary women's fiction story that will steal your breath away. Three friends face a year of life altering events in this tantalizing novel that is sure to touch hearts. An emotion-packed story, this book will keep readers on a roller coaster ride of tears and laughter right up to the beautiful ending. The characters are so well drawn that I almost felt like I knew them personally and could not help feeling empathy for what they were going through. Exploring the twists and turns that life takes, the three friends are always there for each other, helping one another, while dealing with their own issues. Readers will find it nearly impossible to put down.

This is the first Susan Mallery book I have read, but it definitely will not be the last. This novel has made me a fan of her work. Ms. Mallery writes compassionately about down-to-earth women with real issues. The combination of close friendships, marriage, parenthood, relationships, realistic life problems and triumphs, compassion, humor, heartache and love make this a story that is not to be missed. This novel can be read as a standalone, but I am sure that after reading it, you will seek more of Ms. Mallery's novels, like I did. Be sure to pick up your own copy of THE FRIENDS WE KEEP today, and while you are at it, why not pick up a copy of the first book in this series entitled THE GIRLS OF MISCHIEF BAY. Definitely a must read!
