Widower Jed had always planned for his family to be nearby, but his children and grandchildren are spread throughout the country. So he came up with a plan to play matchmaker for his three granddaughters, hoping they will remain nearby and assist with his business, The Hitching Post Hotel, which specializes in weddings. So far, he has successfully matched two of his granddaughters, but the toughest one yet may be his third, Andi, a widow with two young children.

When Jed asks Andi to help her two cousins get the Hitching Post up and going again, she willingly agrees, hoping for a respite from her in-laws, who act as if Andi's deceased husband will walk in the door at any time. She has come to terms with his death, but she knows some things about her husband that their families do not, such as how dangerous his actual job really was. Although Andi has no plans to remarry, the one thing she refuses to do is to get hooked up with another man who thrives on danger. So when her teenage sweetheart, who is now in law enforcement, suddenly reappears at her grandfather's home, she refuses to be drawn in, despite how badly she wants to.

Police Officer Mitch Weston, is on an extended leave after an undercover operation, which went horribly wrong, resulted in the death of his partner and left him with a painful limp after receiving an injury to his knee. Mitch also blames himself for the disastrous outcome of the mission. Seeing Andi again is helping him get past the nightmares he suffers nightly because he dreams about her instead. However, she is holding him at arm's length. He realizes why, but his job in law enforcement is everything to him. Their teenage romance ended abruptly years ago when she suddenly left town without a word to him. Is the past about to repeat itself?

When Mitch and Andi discover that her grandfather, who was once Mitch's boss, is trying to match them up, they come up with a plan of their own and decide to fake an engagement. But, will their time spent together during this ruse result in making the engagement permanent, or will it take a Christmas miracle to make Jed's dreams come true?

A delightful holiday tale, THE LAWMAN'S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL, the third in author Barbara White Daille's heartwarming THE HITCHING POST HOTEL series, is an emotion-packed, uplifting second chance romance that I hated to see end. Readers are sure to fall in love with Mitch. He is patient, very much in love with Andi and wonderful with her kids. The chemistry between them is undeniable.  Although I understood Andi's reticence at getting involved with another man whom she might lose to the danger of his job, I kept rooting for them to get together. The secondary characters, especially the children, add to the warmth and charm of this tale. Additionally, Jed's machinations as he attempts to play matchmaker provide a few giggles.

Ms. Daille pens unforgettable stories packed with heart, humor and loads of love with small town appeal, providing tear-filled moments as well as a few laughs along the way. I am a huge fan of her work and always look forward to her newest release. Ms. Daille’s beautifully written stories will leave you feeling as if you know the characters personally. One of the traits that I especially enjoy in her writing is that she offers readers a revisit with characters from the previous books in the series.

Each of the novels in this series can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the books in order, starting with THE COWBOY'S LITTLE SURPRISE, followed by A RANCHER OF HER OWN and then her newest, THE LAWMAN'S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL. Having read the entire series so far, I am now eager for the release of the next book in this heartwarming series entitled COWBOY IN CHARGE. Pick up a copy of THE LAWMAN'S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL today and discover for yourself why award winning author Barbara White Daille is one of my favorites! If you enjoy heartwarming, contemporary romances with a small town western flair, this book is one you must read!
