Melody Pieterson was attacked and left for dead. That was six years ago, and she still hasn't fully recovered from it. She believes she can just shut it away and pretend it never happened. That is, until her attacker and former friend David Alden is released from prison and there's another attack exactly like hers. When police begin investigating the murder of Eve Elliot, Melody is ripped away from the comfort of her "new" life. When details of Eve's murder are uncovered, Melody begins to think David wasn't the attacker after all. Melody had always had doubts of David's involvement, until now. Now she's certain it wasn't him. But if David hadn't been the attacker, then who was? Whoever it was had to be close to Melody and when she discovers the people closest to her were hiding things from the police, who can she trust?

Colette McBeth really went all out with this one. The Life I Left Behind is an outrageously wonderful thriller. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I've never read anything like it before. Kudos Colette!

The Life I Left Behind is astonishing. It's the first novel I've read that's narrated by Melody and Eve's lingering ghost. I found it incredibly easy to get lost in the world of Melody and Eve. Colette did an amazing job with this one. I thought I had the mystery solved, but nope! I never saw it coming. The Life I Left Behind is beautifully written and intricately thought out. You won't want to miss it!
